Who they are: Kali is the terrifying form that appears when beauty is not enough. In the Shumbha-Nishumbha cycle, the Goddess’s fierce energy erupts as Kalika and Chamunda, who kill Chanda and Munda and help stop Raktabija. This is the Goddess as shock, speed, and battlefield appetite.
What they do that matters:
- Emerges from Ambika’s anger in Book 5.
- Kills Chanda and Munda, earning the name Chamunda.
- Helps defeat Raktabija, whose blood creates more demons.
