Who they are: Bhramari is one of the Purana’s best loophole-breakers. The demon Aruna gets protection from men, women, bipeds, quadrupeds, and weapons. Bhramari answers with swarms of bees and hornets: not a weapon, not a man, not a woman, and exactly what the boon failed to imagine.
What they do that matters:
- Appears in Book 10 after Aruna abandons Gayatri.
- Sends bees and hornets from her body to destroy the demons.
- Her hymn names several Mahavidya forms.
